Banks is a terrific water containing carp, tench, chub, barbel, perch and roach and in May 2010 was stocked with 400 small carp and a few double figure carp early 2011 following the installation of an otter fence.
Heavy tactics are recommended using pole, waggler or ledger with most baits proving successful but meat, maggot and corn usually favourite.
To find the water take the back road from Kendal to Kirkby Lonsdale (B6254) past the Station Inn at Oxenholme. Continue for 4 miles under the motorway bridge until you come to a tarn on the right hand side (this isn’t Banks). Opposite on the left is a field gate with the club sign attached. Follow the track up to the end of the fence and you will see the Tarn in the woods in the bottom of the field on the right (not the tarn under the pylons). Access has been much improved recently with a car park just inside the Tarn gate and an excellent path to the water.
